Coronavirus update

We are delighted that Christ Church will re-open for a service for all at 10.30am on Sunday 12 July, subject to the government and Church of England guidelines below.

For the safety of yourself and others please follow a few rules:
 • A one-way system will be in place: please enter by the Rotunda doors and exit via the Angel doors
 • Please use the hand sanitiser provided as you enter church, and please do not touch anything you do not need to.
 • Maintain 2 metres social distance from anyone else – when standing and sitting
 • Bring your own Bible, and any other material you would wish to use
 • The wearing of your own face coverings and gloves is a personal choice unless or until the government decrees otherwise
 • Please do not enter the church building if you have any coronavirus symptoms or have been ill during the last 14 days
 Thank you

Please note that the Church Office will be closed until further notice, but emails and phone messages are monitored regularly. The post of Vicar of Radlett is now vacant.  If you need a member of clergy please contact in the first instance the Revd Daniel McCarthy (Shenley) on 01923 859544 or email him, or the Revd Robert Fletcher (Aldenham) on 01923 85420 or email him.

This is clearly a very difficult time but it does not mean that the church is shutting up shop. You may have heard in the news that the Archbishops of Canterbury and York have asked all churches to face the current challenge by becoming a radically different kind of church for the time being, rooted in prayer and serving others. We will be facing the challenge in this way and in particular we are aiming to ensure that we reach out and keep in regular contact with anyone who may be feeling isolated.

Everyone can help with this and congregations are asked to be at the forefront of providing practical care and support for the most poor and most vulnerable during the crisis. So do look out for friends and neighbours who may be particularly isolated: a phone call or offer of assistance (taking account of the Government guidance on personal contact) could be a great help.  A booklet entitled "Being a Good Neighbour" from Communities 1st can be downloaded here. If you wish to be included in our Shepherding scheme or WhatsApp group, please contact the church office.

Ideas for personal worship will be posted on the church Facebook page from time to time. Those wishing to receive the weekly pewsheet by email should contact the Church Office. A new additional weekly leaflet with resources for worship at home - the "Armchair Leaflet" - is also distributed weekly by email and personal delivery to those without the internet.  Resources for worship at home are posted on the News page of this website (under Welcome). Join us for a Prayer meeting by Zoom on Saturday mornings - details on the Armchair Leaflet.

We are all in this together and with God's help we will all get through this. If you need help in any way or a chat please call the Church Office, either of the Churchwardens, Fiona Turner or Helen Warne, Jeremy Newton or Susan Brown (contact details on the pack of the pew leaflet) and we will help where we can, and if we can't we will find someone who can.

All of us can help and support each other. Even if we are unable to go out, we can keep in touch with each other by phone, WhatsApp, email, Messenger and offer help or just to chat. Non on eshould feel they are alone. Keep calm, use your common sense, carry on and keep praying.

A prayer for all those affected by Coronavirus

Keep us good Lord, under the shadow of your mercy.

Sustain and support the anxious, be with those who care for the sick,

and lift all who are brought low; that we may find comfort knowing that nothing can separate us from your love in Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen

Hampers for the less fortunate

The Hamper Team is now trying to provide a weekly selection of non-perishable food for 40 families – this is a substantial increase on last year as more families are struggling through these uncertain and difficult times.

We are so grateful to have had some very generous donations which are helping to fund this, but funds are running low. If you wish to donate, please refer to these account details: Churches Together at Barclays, Account Number: 00816213, Sort Code: 207409

APCM to be delayed

The APCM due to have been held on 29 March is now postponed until the autumn.  However, both the annual report and Book of the Year are available.

Nominations to the PCC are still welcomed. Those wishing to find out more about serving on the PCC might find this leaflet helpful.
