News

The Churchwardens with the Worship Group met via Zoom on Monday 25 January, to review the temporary closure of Christ Church, the current Coronavirus situation and the need to keep everyone safe. Although the number of Coronavirus cases appears to be decreasing, the infection rate is still high. The Worship Group agreed that we need to continue to keep everyone safe and not put anyone at unnecessary risk. After taking everything into consideration, the Churchwardens, supported by the PCC, made the decision that Christ Church will remain closed for public worship and personal prayer for the time being, with a further review to take place on Monday 15 February 2021. It was not an easy decision to make and we are all very sad to not be able to meet together in our lovely church, but we will soon. Keep in touch with each other and continue to stay at home, it really is helping to keep everyone safe, and wherever we are, we are free to pray – God is everywhere - and prayer is not in lockdown!

The other churches in our Aldenham, Radlett & Shenley Team Ministry are streaming services and providing podcasts and reflections. Details are available on the pew leaflets for St John the Baptist Aldenham and St Martin’s Shenley, posted on the website for Christ Church & St John’s https://www.christchurchstjohns.org.uk/.

Members of our community are encouraged to stay at home, to continue to pray at home, to remain in touch with those known to be lonely or in need, and to contact one of our church leaders if necessary (details available on the back page of the Christ Church & St John’s pew leaflets, also available on the website).

Good news!! Our new Vicar search is progressing - Praise the Lord

As you know, we advertised for our new Vicar with the closing date of 26 January, and have all been praying for the right people to apply.  Our prayers have been answered - by a really strong field of applications - and great candidates have been shortlisted for interview. Praise the Lord!! Please give thanks and continue to pray for the selection process, for the candidates as they discern God's plan for their ministry, for the selection panel as they seek God's plan for Christ Church and St John's and the right person to be the new Vicar of Radlett. It is exciting news but we need to be patient a little longer as due to the on-going lockdown the interview date has been postponed from 24 February to 17 March (restrictions permitting).
